Acquisition Editor/Senior Acquisition Editor, Multimedia for Reference Works

We are a recruiting agency and our Client is in need of a person to conceptualize, research, acquire, and develop content databases and/or multi-media reference projects in social and life sciences.

This person will:

·         Report directly to a Publisher.

·         Have previous acquisitions experience and project management of web-based portals/products and/or publications with multimedia components and associated websites.

·         Need to be familiar with issues, technology, companies, and sites relevant to websites/portals/e-products.

·         Be actively involved in researching industry needs, developing concepts, creating proposals, contract negotiation, and project management.

·         Conduct strategic planning and competitive research/analysis on products.

·         Have limited travel consisting of 1-2 sales meetings and 1-2 editorial meetings/year, plus possibly 1-2 other trips as needed.

·         Be creative, innovative, organized, results oriented individual.

·         Coordinate with marketing, production, sales, business development and finance departments.

Qualifications

·         College degree, ideally in some form of science.

·         Five years plus editorial experience.

·         e/web/technology experience is a plus.

·         Must have experience with Excel, MS Word, etc.

This position could be filled by a current Acquisition Editor from the textbook, journals or reference world, so long as the person has a fair amount of appropriate experience in the e/web environment.
