Membership Benefits

SSP, an international nonprofit professional association founded in 1978, welcomes your membership. Any individual or organization with an interest in scholarly publishing may apply.

SSP's objectives are to facilitate learning, communication, and the advancement of appropriate technologies among all those who are involved with scholarly communication.

Several categories of membership are available. Dues for individual members range from $30 to $130, and Organizational Membership starts at $1250.

SSP members in all categories enjoy the following benefits:

  • Discounted registration fees for the SSP Annual Meeting, where hundreds of scholarly publishing professionals meet to learn about current and emerging trends, view product and service exhibits, and network with colleagues. You can save up to $145 per member by registering as an SSP member for the SSP 31st Annual Meeting in Baltimore.

  • Discounted fees to attend SSP Educational Seminars, held periodically throughout the year at a number of locations. Mark your calendar for the May 2009 pre-Annual Meeting seminars.
  • Networking and problem-solving opportunities -- at discounted registration rates -- through participation in the SSP Top Management Roundtable. Bookmark sspnet.org and watch for the 2007 TMR program and registration page. Space at TMR is limited.

  • Online access to Learned Published a peer-reviewed journal ranked by ISI and is the principal journal covering the field of scholarly publishing. Access Learned Published via the Member Center

  • The annual SSP Member Directory, containing contact information for all members and indexes by organization and geographical location. This printed directory supplements the online Member Directory, to which all SSP members have access.
  • SSP News, sent every six weeks via e-mail to keep members up to date on events, trends, and initiatives.
  • Sign up for the Services Directory as part of your membership. The SSP Services Directory is a free searchable resource for those seeking professionals who provide publications and marketing consulting services, copy editing, data conversion, graphic design, printing, production, technical services, typesetting, and more. All listings are from current members of SSP.

  • Links to valuable, relevant sites and other important information via the SSP Web site.

  • The chance to network with colleagues in SSP and other organizations, and to help determine SSP's future development through volunteer service on committees.
