SSP Names New Program Director

The Society for Scholarly Publishing is pleased to announce that Margaret Reich, of Margaret Reich Consulting, will serve as its new Program Director starting immediately. In this new role, Margaret will be responsible for taking SSP’s already strong programs for librarians, publishers, vendors, and others involved in scholarly publishing, and improving and expanding the offerings through strategic and tactical initiatives.

Margaret has worked in scholarly publishing for more than 30 years, mostly with non-profit society publishers. She is the co-author of “The Handbook of Journal Publishing” (Cambridge University Press), and she is a past-President of the Society for Scholarly Publishing. She has also served on the SSP Education Committee and as Program Committee Chair for the Council of Science Editors.

“SSP’s programming is already topnotch, and its Annual Meeting is the one that is not to be missed-especially for those looking for the broadest possible offerings across the gamut of scholarly communications,” said Margaret. “I am looking forward to helping our extraordinary volunteers consistently bring the most useful content and experiences to our members.”

“The incredible volunteers supporting SSP have done amazing work over the past few decades to create memorable and popular programming,” said Kent Anderson, President of SSP. “The Board felt that it was time to consolidate the planning and coordination efforts in a specific role. I’m thrilled Margaret has been selected as the person to fill this role. She will do a wonderful job, and set us on a course for growth and even greater relevancy.”
