The October issue of Learned Publishing is out now

October 7, 2015The October issue of Learned Publishing is now out – and it’s a bumper one to see you through the end of the year.

With almost too many articles to write about, I’d like to tempt you with a listing that includes an analysis of UK learned society reliance on publication income, a historical overview of the online BMJ, overviews of current day publishing in Malaysia and Czechoslovakia, an evaluation of bilingual publishing, and a look at book editors in the humanities and social sciences.

For those interested in new initiatives we have an article describing a crowdsourcing library publishing model, and another on the work of the CASRAI working group investigating ways to recognise and reward peer review activity. The needs of researchers are also considered in a paper asking if open access has been taken over by commercial and organisation interests at the expense of the researcher needs, and for those interested in how to improve communication we have articles on user experience methodology and access management.

Phew!

I hope there is something in this issue to tempt everyone – and if you have any comments on what you read, please do send them to me – in this issue we also have a letter (or rather, email) to the editor about the July editorial – worth reading.

Enjoy!
