Applying Unique Identifiers to Understand and Establish Influence OR What’s in a Name?





So you want to leverage research output and publication record to demonstrate the influence of your authors, researchers, society, or institution? The first step to leveraging these data on individuals is to establish their unique identity. In this seminar, speakers who will review the landscape of unique identifiers, discuss the benefit of investing the time to place them, and describe the multitude of ways in which they can be applied. Applications could include using the identifiers in the publications process, to aid in developing profiles for members to track society-wide activities beyond publication, and to aggregate data for individuals at an institution to deliver meaningful metrics on the influence of that organization. The challenges and opportunities of applying unique identifiers will be further explored with audience member through and extensive Q&A sessions with the speakers.
