Modern Digital Publishing for Journals: Is HTML / XML Enough?

Concurrent 5E: Modern Digital Publishing for Journals: Is HTML / XML Enough?

This session looks at the state of the art in digital publishing for Journals, the impact of open standards and new cloud-based solutions:

* We review how Journals are currently published in the digital world, analyze the options available, and understand the efforts, costs, benefits and drawbacks of each option.
* We study targeted surveys created for authors and publishers to understand their hopes for the industry.
* We  investigate how ePub3 , HTML5 and CSS3 can interoperate with existing XML first production models to:
* generate elastic user interfaces, providing one source content across mobiles, tablets, etc.
* provide enhanced content, collaboration and interoperability
* We  look at case studies around analytics solutions, both commercial and free/open source.  We focus on who uses these, their purpose and method of use. We then question the effectiveness of this powerful feedback loop on actual content creation.
