Open access – towards new peer-review models

The evolving business models of open access journals have given rise to new practices for peer review.  While the open access community may have spawned the transformation of peer review, many publishers across the scholarly communication spectrum continue to experiment with innovative models of peer review. These new models include cascading peer review, community peer review, technical-only and hybrids of traditional and public (open) peer review. This seminar features speakers who will share their perspectives and experiences in implementing new peer review systems. They will address why they chose the system, how they are implementing it, and how well it is working.  Presenters will describe the editorial structure chosen to support the chosen peer review process and address the technical mechanisms required for implementing their new peer review practices. This seminar will offer a look at the current peer review landscape and focus on three to four specific case studies.
