Project COUNTER

The new release of the COUNTER Code of Practice for e-Resources was published in March, with a deadline for implementation of 31 December 2013. It has been developed with input from vendors, librarians and publishers. For the first time, this COUNTER standard will provide a single, integrated code of practice covering journals, databases and books, as well as multimedia content. This session will address the following questions: How can we compare usage data from different vendors / publishers to better understand user behavior and improve library collection decisions? Will the new requirement for journal reporting that parses usage of gold” Open Access content impact subscriptions? How might COUNTERs planned new Usage Factor metric help assess the value of online content? Join Peter Shepherd, Project Director of COUNTER together with a librarian, a publisher, and a subscription agent/content vendor for this lively and informative discussion of all things COUNTER.
