American Veterinary Medical Association Selects KGL PubFactory

February 16, 2021 – Boston, MA – The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) has chosen KGL PubFactory, a division of KnowledgeWorks Global Ltd. (KGL), to build a new hosting platform for its two peer reviewed journals, the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association (JAVMA) and the American Journal of Veterinary Research (AJVR).

Founded in 1863, the AVMA represents more than 97,000 veterinarians in both private and public practice. Published twice a month, JAVMA provides reports of clinical research, feature articles and regular columns of interest, while monthly publication AJVR contains reports of novel research, as well as news of interest to veterinary researchers.

When the new platform goes live later this year, the site will become the new home for current issues and content from both journals dating back as far as 2000.

Dr. Kurt Matushek, Division Director/Editor-in-Chief, Publications Division at AVMA, said: “We undertook a thorough process in search of a partner to help us keep abreast of technological advancements, innovate our digital offering and develop new features which appeal to both subscribers and non-subscribers. We found that KGL PubFactory ticked all the boxes in terms of having the right experience and being able to provide a robust solution which matches our needs and improves member experience. We look forward to working together and bringing the new website to our members.”

José Fossi, VP of Client Services for KGL PubFactory stated: “AVMA already has a long-standing relationship with KGL’s predecessor, Sheridan Journal Services, so we are delighted to be strengthening our ties and building on our rapport with such a prestigious society publisher. The flexible and integrated KGL PubFactory platform will really help these two industry-leading journals to reach their full potential, providing improved accessibility, searchability and discoverability, and we are very excited to get started.”

KGL’s end-to-end proposition for scholarly publishers includes project management, AI-powered language analysis and copyediting, XML composition and proofing, digital and print production, and online hosting. The PubFactory platform hosts over 2,300 journals and 400,000 books, numerous databases, and reference works.
