Brill announces the Winner of the Middle East and Islamic Studies Early-Career Paper Prize 2014 Winner of the Middle East and Islamic Studies Early-Career Paper Prize 2014

March 20, 2015We are very happy to announce that the winner of the first Middle East and Islamic Studies Early-Career Paper Prize is Alexander E. Balistreri, Ph.D. student at the Near Eastern Studies department at Princeton University (https://princeton.academia.edu/AlexanderBalistreri). His article “Turkey’s Forgotten Political Opposition: The Demise of Kadirbeyoglu Zeki Bey” was chosen as best out of 10 submitted articles by the board of Brill’s journal Die Welt des Islams (www.brill.com/wdi). Alexander will receive a €750,- cash prize and his article will be published in an upcoming issue of Die Welt des Islams. It will be free to access up until  a month after publication. More information will follow in upcoming Email Newsletters.

Brill invites submissions for the  Middle East and Islamic Studies Early-Career Paper Prize 2015

The Paper Prize is open to students who are currently registered for doctoral research at a higher education institution, or have obtained their doctoral degree after 1 January 2012. The Middle East Journal of Culture and Communication has kindly agreed to host the 2015 competition. Submissions should thus fit the scope of that journal. For more information on the journal, please visit www.brill.com/mjcc.

The author of the winning article will receive a €750,- cash prize and the article will be published in one of Brill’s leading journals.

Submission Requirements

Submissions for the 2015 prize must be sent to: articlecompetition@brill.com, no later than 1 June 2015. For all submission requirements, please visit the Early Career Paper Prize website page.
