Brill becomes the new publisher of the classical philological journal AION

January 22, 2019 – Leiden / Boston / Paderborn / Singapore / Beijing – Università di Napoli “l’Orientale” has transferred its publishing activities for the classical philological journal AION-Sezione di Filologia e Letteratura Classica to Brill, the international scholarly publishing house.

AION: Annali dell’Università degli Studi di Napoli “L’Orientale”, Sezione di Filologia e Letteratura Classica is a journal  in the field of philology, literature, history of Greek and Latin texts and their transmission throughout the centuries, with an eye to the Ancient Eastern world, Late Antiquity and the Middle Ages. The journal was founded in 1979 by the Dipartimento di Studi del Mondo Classico e del Mediterraneo Antico of the Università di Napoli “l’Orientale”.

Classical philology and literature have traditionally been one of the pillars of Brill’s publishing program in the Humanities, which makes AION a great addition to the Classical Studies program. The journal’s editor-in-chief, professor Amneris Roselli, is confident that the journal  will reach the international audience it deserves by publishing with Brill: “We are very pleased that after a journey of 40 years, AION-Sezione di Filologia e Letteratura Classica has found a new harbour at Brill. The journal will continue to advance research on Greek and Latin literature, with special consideration of the Mediterranean context in which it developed. The Editorial Board remains dedicated to further develop the journal as a platform for extensive international collaboration and looks forward to this new phase of its journey with confidence.”

The first issue of AION published with Brill is 40.1 (2018) and is available online on brill.com/aion, and in print.  AION welcomes articles in English, French, German and Italian and aims at academic readers, libraries and cultural institutions interested in the ancient world.
