Celebrating the 250+ volunteers that drive SSP programs and activities

Did you know it’s National Volunteer Week? National Volunteer Week is an annual celebration observed in the United States and in Canada in mid-to-late April, to promote and show appreciation for volunteerism.

Volunteers are critical to SSP’s success and we’d like to this opportunity to acknowledge them for their contributions and thank them for their commitment to SSP and the scholarly publishing community. SSP has more than 250 members that volunteer their time to support the advancement of scholarly communications by serving on committees, task forces, the Board of Directors, writing for SSP’s blog, The Scholarly Kitchen, or acting as a mentor to our Fellows. Many of the programs SSP offers were developed and are led by our enthusiastic members. Volunteerism is an important element of professional development and a great way to expand one’s professional network and gain leadership skills.

We’ll be recognizing our many volunteers at the upcoming SSP Annual Meeting, May 31-June 2 in Boston, MA, but National Volunteer Week provides us with a perfect opportunity to call attention to all of these deserving individuals and their organizations that support the work they do!
