Congratulations to SSP’s 2014 Annual Meeting Travel Grant Award Winners!

The Society for Scholarly Publishing is pleased to announce its 2014 Travel Grant Recipients for the 36th Annual Meeting, to be held in Boston, MA, on 28–30 May 2014.

SSP travel grants are awarded in three categories: early career, for publishing professionals in their first three years of employment; student, for students of publishing and information science; and international professionals.

This year, Emma Brink (John Wiley & Sons, Inc.), Francesca Giannetti (Rutgers University Alexander Library), Elizabeth Gibson (Elsevier Science & Technology Books), Maeg Keane (BioOne), and Katy Meert (Elsevier, Inc.) received early career awards.

Student awards go to Emily Besich (University of Arizona), Alexandra Haehnert (Portland State University), Ashley Parker (George Washington University), Gedi Tang (University of Michigan), and Mei Zhang (University of Wisconsin–Madison).

Devasena Kanthi (Cactus Communications, India), Nadja Neumann (Karlstad University Library, Sweden), and Emma Watkins (IOP Publishing, UK) received the international awards.

As well as supporting travel costs and conference fees, SSP’s travel grants program pairs each award recipient with a mentor during the meeting. These mentors – senior management staff at SSP member organizations – help awardees navigate learning and networking opportunities and offer insights from their professional experience.

2014 travel grant program sponsors include CrossRef, Highwire, Inera eXtyles, PRE-score, the Rockefeller University Press, and Wiley.
