Durham Regional Event Highlights Active Scholarly Communications Community

Speakers from 10 local organizations gave overviews of their work at a May 10 Durham regional event of SSP. The event, “Scholarly Communications in the Triangle: Key Players & Speed Networking,” consisted of two parts: lightning talks from company representatives, and a fast-paced speed networking round. Presenters included Duke University Press, J&J Editorial, Morningstar Law Group, NC State University Libraries, Oxford University Press, Research Square, Ringgold, RTI Press, Technica Editorial Services, and the University of North Carolina Press. Molly Hansen of Oxford University Press played host, keeping an often boisterous audience moving between networking pairs.

Organizers Jocelyn Dawson, Molly Hansen, Lindsay Miller were pleased with the event’s attendance and enthusiastic response. After six Durham regional events, attendees enjoyed the chance to finally put names with faces and to learn more about their publishing peers in the Research Triangle region.
