Explore the SSP Career Center – Connecting Talent with Great Opportunities

If searching for a job or recruiting for a key position during a pandemic weren’t on your 2020 bingo card but came up anyway, you may be feeling the pressure a bit more than in “normal” times. While the universe of job boards and career sites is legion, this can make it overwhelming to know where to start. It’s good to know that for those of us working in scholarly publishing and related fields, the SSP Career Center offers a jumping off spot that is targeted to our specific skills and needs.

Searching for a job?

Job seekers can jump right in with a quick search from the home page, where you’ll also find featured companies and jobs. Currently, you’ll find a range of opportunities from copy editors, to business development managers, to editorial ethics managers, to heads of publishing–and everything in between.

Advanced searching allows you to limit search results based on location, position type, company, experience level, job category, and salary. You can even sign up to get jobs delivered to your mailbox based on your search criteria, saving you from having to reenter your search again and again.

Actively recruiting?

In addition to the ability to post jobs, companies can choose their level of service from basic to premium. All levels include:

  • The option to set up an employer profile (with logo, contact information, website, video, and social media pages)
  • SEO and mobile optimized listings
  • The option to manage jobs and track your applicants right from our platform

Additional options, based on the level you choose, including being a featured company, putting your job in the spotlight, and increased reach options. And, of course, for SSP members there are discounts in all categories.

And internships too!

The SSP Career Center isn’t just about the job search. Through its internship listings, publishers and related organizations can offer opportunities (for free!) to the next generation of professionals interested in exploring a career in scholarly publishing. Interns get the benefit of gaining real-world work experience, learning from experts, and, perhaps most importantly, the chance to learn more about where they do and don’t want to head with their career.

We encourage you to post your internships to reach up and coming talent who will guide the future of scholarly publishing.

You can count on SSP

The world may have been turned upside down, but it hasn’t stopped spinning. SSP continues to be here for its members and the community, and the SSP Career Center is just one of many resources we hope can make things a little easier during this difficult time.

If you’ve had success finding a new position or recruiting for your organization using the SSP Career Center, please get in touch, we’d love to hear your story!
