Journals Quickstarter Training: A New OnDemand Training Course from the Society for Scholarly Publishing

November 9, 2020 – Mt. Laurel, NJ – The Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP) is excited to share a brand new training course, available exclusively in our OnDemand library! The Journals Quickstarter Training provides users with a complete overview of the academic journals ecosystem, giving them the “quick start” needed to navigate this evolving landscape.

The course is composed of several “modules” led by experts in their respective fields, touching on major facets of journals publishing—financial skills; business models; marketing; editorial and production; data and decision making; and tools and technology.

Designed especially for earlier- to mid-career professionals, the Journals Quickstarter Training is perfect for scholarly communications professionals hoping to gain a more rounded perspective on the journals publishing environment.  It will also be useful to vendors, librarians, and book publishers who wish to enhance their understanding of journals publishing.

“Over the years we’ve heard from many members seeking a training course in this area, and we’re very pleased to meet that need through our OnDemand library platform,” said SSP Program Director, Mary Beth Barilla. “The asynchronous aspect of the course makes it more accessible to a broader audience during these busy times, and the scope of the training makes it valuable to both those relatively new to journals publishing and those wishing to build on their knowledge of the area.”

Pricing discounts are available for organizations that want to purchase a multi-user license–perfect for distributed team development! Visit the registration page to see a full list of speakers and more detail for each module.

As part of a generous in-kind sponsorship, Cadmore Media and 3Play Media have provided video hosting, transcription, and closed-captioning services. Sponsored content, sponsorship, and advertising opportunities are available for the platform. Please contact partnerships@sspnet.org for more information.
