NISO Announces NISO Plus Forum on September 20, 2022

NISO is excited to announce the first-ever NISO Plus Forum — a new, in-person event that will provide a bridge between the annual, fully online NISO Plus conferences! With thanks to the American Geophysical Union for their support, this year’s conference will be held at the AGU headquarters in Washington, DC on September 20, 2022 — the day before SSP’s annual New Directions seminar at the same venue on September 21-22, to minimize travel for those of you planning to attend.

The theme of this year’s Forum is Metadata: Structures, Exchange, Identifiers — a chance to continue some of the many conversations we started on this topic at the last conference and connect them to the next one in concrete and meaningful ways. It’s intended for information professionals interested in metadata across all functions and organization types, who have the seniority and functional expertise to understand the challenges and opportunities for both their organization and the wider community. The focus will be primarily on practical work in small groups, to help shape the focus of the NISO Plus conference and NISO’s standards development priorities more generally—a great opportunity to share your perspectives with a diverse group of colleagues from across the information community, and to better understand theirs.

We are lucky to already have the support of sponsors Access Innovations and Silverchair, as well as AGU, enabling us to keep the cost of registration to $199 for members and $249 for non-members. If your organization is interested in sponsorship, you can find more information on the NISO Plus website — or feel free to contact us.

Because of the interactive nature of this event, registrations will be strictly limited to 100 attendees, on a first come, first served basis, and organizations can reserve a maximum of three tickets each initially. You can also choose to support the SSP Generations Fund, by purchasing a ticket for a fundraising event taking place on AGU’s rooftop terrace immediately after the NISO Plus Forum. Please see the registration page for details.

Although this year we’re starting local (NISO’s headquarters are just up the road from DC, in Baltimore, MD), we plan to hold future Forums in different locations around the world, enabling us to engage more deeply with the global information community.

We’ll be sharing more information here in the coming weeks, and we also encourage you to sign up to hear from us by email, or follow us on Twitter or LinkedIn.
