Publishing Professionals Network for Good

Attendees of SSP’s New Directions Seminar, NISO’s NISO+ Forum, and publishing professionals based in the DC metro area gathered on the American Geophysical Union’s rooftop space for a happy hour last week on September 20th. But this wasn’t just an ordinary networking event for scholarly communications professionals. The Networking at New Directions event benefited SSP’s Generations Fund.

Thanks to our host, AGU, co-presenter NISO, and generous sponsors Aptara, Ex Ordo, Morressier, and Silverchair, attendee tickets for the event 100% benefited the Generations Fund raising almost $2,500 in just a few hours! The Generations Fund is an endowment to provide sustainable funding for SSP’s  FellowshipMentoring, and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility programs far into the future. A community is only as strong as its next generation of leaders, and endowed funds protect these vital programs from unforeseen events.

Since launching in October 2020, more than 220 individuals and organizations have given to this effort, pushing the fund to over $240,000. Join the generous organizations and individuals who have already pledged their support for the future of scholarly communications with a gift of your own!

Thank you to our networking event sponsors, American Geophysical Union, Aptara, Ex Ordo, Morressier, NISO, and Silverchair.
