Research Square Launches a New Blog for Researchers

May 6, 2020 – Durham, NC – Research Square, the company behind the world’s fastest-growing preprint platform, is launching a blog as an educational resource for researchers. The blog will feature articles about emerging trends in research communications such as preprints, badges, and video summaries.

With the success of its multidisciplinary preprint platform, which now hosts over 20,000 preprints, Research Square has recognized the need to help educate authors about the ever-changing publishing landscape. In the past few years, the open access movement, Plan S, and the rise of preprints have brought significant changes to scholarly publishing, and researchers now have a variety of decisions to make about how to share their research. In addition, the global COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the need to share research quickly and make it accessible to the widest possible audience. As a result, researchers must think carefully about how to communicate their findings to a broad readership. The blog article topics will be carefully curated to help authors better understand these and other changes as well as to provide information on how best to communicate their research.

The Research Square Blog will also house press releases and company announcements, including those from AJE, Research Square’s sister company, and a leading author services provider. The blog will launch with more than a dozen articles, and there are plans to add more articles by the end of 2020.

Rachel Burley, President of Research Square, describes how the Research Square Blog aligns with the company’s overall mission:

“Research Square is committed to making research communication faster, fairer, and more useful. Through the new Research Square Blog, we will be providing a valuable source of information for researchers who want to learn more about the benefits of preprints as well as other tools that can help them better communicate their research.”

The Research Square Blog will be designed to inform researchers about available tools and services that will help them ensure their work has the greatest possible scientific impact.

“Understanding research has never been more important. In today’s digital world, researchers are faced with many choices as to how they share and promote their research. We want to give them the information they need to make informed decisions about how best to communicate their research and make it the most useful for the greatest number of people, whether through preprints, video summaries, or other research promotion tools,” says Amye Kenall, VP of Publishing and Product at Research Square.

Research Square will source articles from its talented team of former researchers, industry professionals, and technologists.
