Sponsorship from Cadmore Media and 3Play Media help extend the inclusivity of the 2019 SSP Annual Meeting

May 16, 2019 – Mount Laurel, NJ – Cadmore Media in partnership with 3Play Media will provide video hosting, transcription and closed-captioning services as part of an in-kind sponsorship for the 2019 Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP) Annual Meeting to be held at the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina in San Diego, CA, May 29-31.

SSP has historically recorded the Annual Meeting sessions and makes them freely available after the event in the SSP Library. Through the sponsorship with Cadmore Media and 3Play Media, recordings from the Annual Meeting will now include full transcriptions that are searchable and closed captioned. Additionally, the videos will tagged with applicable metadata —for easier discovery, segmented, and users can conveniently clip and share segments.

“We are delighted to support SSP in its ambition to broaden the global conversation around scholarly communication by offering on-demand access to recordings of the 2019 Annual meeting, said Violaine Iglesias, CEO & Co-founder of Cadmore Media. “In-person attendees and remote audiences alike will be able to watch and search through every session, fully transcribed to support discovery and non-native English speakers.”

With six concurrent sessions to choose from, attendees often have to make difficult decisions about which sessions to attend. With the availability of the recorded sessions after the meeting, attendees can go back and see what they missed. Additionally, those that were not able to attend the Annual Meeting in-person can still benefit from the knowledge shared at the meeting by accessing the videos.

“SSP is very pleased to be able to offer transcription and closed captioning of the recorded sessions through the generosity of Cadmore Media and 3Play Media, said Melanie Dolechek, SSP Executive Director. This service very much aligns with SSP’s goal of being more inclusive. Having the transcripts published alongside the videos will be of benefit to everyone, of course, but it’s a substantial benefit to the hearing impaired and non-native English speakers.”

Josh Miller, Co-founder of 3Play Media, says: “3Play Media applauds SSP’s work to advance diversity and inclusion in scholarly communication, as evidenced by their commitment to adding closed captions and transcripts to their 2019 Annual meeting recordings. In addition to making video accessible to the deaf and hard of hearing community, closed captions and transcripts improve the viewing experience by making video searchable, more engaging, and inclusive for all viewers.”

Cadmore Media’s support extends beyond just the 2019 Annual Meeting as they have signed on as a sponsor for this service through 2021.
