Thomson Reuters and Ringgold Create New Standard for Data Accuracy Initiative will expedite scholarly publishing workflow by disambiguating complex institutional data

December 18, 2014Portland, OR – The Intellectual Property & Science business of Thomson Reuters, the world’s leader in intelligent information for businesses and professionals, announced this week an initiative to ensure data accuracy in the scholarly publishing process through collaboration with Ringgold, the authority on institutional identification. The initiative will integrate Ringgold’s Identify database with ScholarOne Manuscripts, the premier journal and peer review tool for scholarly publishers and societies.

This collaboration will accelerate the scholarly publishing process by easing the previously cumbersome task of accurately identifying the institutional affiliation of authors and reviewers. The integration of Identify into ScholarOne Manuscripts will enable users to quickly disambiguate complex institutional data and ensure accuracy by seamlessly connecting to more than 400,000 institutional records.

“We’re pleased to be collaborating with Thomson Reuters to help authors, reviewers and publishers better manage the complex institutional identification process,” said Jay Henry, Chief Marketing Officer at Ringgold. “Accurately identifying institutional affiliations ensures that scholarship is more effectively published, recorded and attributed.”

“We are committed to advancing scholarly publishing by expediting workflow and providing best-in-class data with the highest amount of accuracy, clarity and transparency,” said Jasper Simons, vice president, product and market strategy for Publishing and Associations at Thomson Reuters. “Our collaboration with Ringgold’s Identify will enforce accuracy standards that will allow authors, publishers and institutions to exchange information more effectively.”
