We’ve decided to extend our Professional Skills Survey period for just a few more days! Survey responses are anonymous but you can separately submit your name for a chance to win a free webinar registration.
Now in its 2nd year, the survey provides insight into our industry and informs the Professional Skills Map. The Professional Skills Map presents four key areas of scholarly communications and publishing careers:
- Research products or services org
- Publishing company or university press
- Scholarly society
- Library
Using the real-world responses from the survey, the interactive map branches into user roles (e.g., journals editorial or business development) and breaks down how people identify elements that contribute to their success.
The map can be explored up to five levels deep with characteristics related to personal attributes, technical skills, transferable skills, and more.
The Professional Skills Map was developed by the SSP Career Development Committee (CDC) to create a tool that explores potential career paths. As with any data-driven tool, it is only as good as the data provided thus your voice is critical. The survey takes approximately 5 to 7 minutes to complete and you can access it by clicking here.
