SSP, an international nonprofit professional association founded in 1978, welcomes your membership. Any individual or organization with an interest in scholarly publishing may apply. Members represent the many elements involved in the broad field of scholarly publishing — publishers, e-product developers, librarians, publishing service vendors, editors, and more.

NOTE: Membership dues are annual, and are prorated for new members joining after July 1. Discounts will be reflected in your Cart after you select your membership type. All dollar amounts referred to below are in USD, and all amounts shall be paid in USD.
Individual
- Individual Member: $231
Available to anyone interested in scholarly publishing. Membership includes, full voting privileges, all e-newsletters and notices, discounted rates to educational events, right to hold office and serve on committees, option for inclusion in online Services Directory, online access to Learned Publishing, and inclusion in the online member directory. - Early Career Member: $72
Available for those who are new to the publishing industry, in up to their first four years of work, having graduated from school, or transitioned from another profession. Early Career Membership rate applies for a maximum of two years. Includes all the benefits and privileges of full membership.
- Librarian/Faculty/Funding Agency Staff: $94
Available to librarians and library staff currently working in a library, faculty at higher education institutions, and funding agency staff. Includes all the benefits and privileges of full membership.
- Retired Member: $83 (Renewals Only)
Available to members of SSP who have retired. - Student/Researcher Member: $44
Available to full-time students and researchers only; for students, a copy of enrollment certificate or student ID is required with renewal. Includes all the benefits and privileges of full membership.
If your financial situation has changed significantly due to recent loss of employment such that you would have difficulty renewing your membership, please contact us to discuss options.
Low/Middle Income Countries*
Individual membership is offered to residents of low and middle countries (LMICs) based on The World Bank List of Economies. Dues are applied to any country that is not classified “high income.”

Includes up to 20 individual memberships to SSP for representatives of the organization (with the option to add additional memberships for $138 each). These named representatives receive all rights and privileges of full membership, which includes full voting privileges, all e-newsletters and notices, right to hold office and serve on committees, participation in member-only programs, online access to Learned Publishing, inclusion in the online member directory, and inclusion in online services directory. - Supporting Organization: $2,536
Includes up to 5 individual memberships to SSP for representatives of the organization (with the option to add additional memberships for $138 each). These named representatives receive all rights and privileges of full membership, which includes full voting privileges, all e-newsletters and notices, right to hold office and serve on committees, participation in member-only programs, online access to Learned Publishing, inclusion in the online member directory, and inclusion in online services directory.
Organizational Member Benefit Packages
Registration discounts extend to any member of the organization and all employees of the organization can be subscribed to RE:member, SSP’s weekly eNews digest which includes industry news, SSP news, member news, and information about upcoming events.
Members have the option to choose the benefits package that most closely aligns with their needs. Organizational Members at both the Supporting and Sustaining membership levels can select the Professional Development Package or the Promotional Package when they renew their membership or join SSP.
PROMOTIONAL PACKAGE
The Promotional Package is ideal for organizations who want to reach other SSP members with information about their products and services.
Benefits at the Supporting Level include:
- Member News postings in RE:member weekly newsletter.
- Discounted rate for any representative of the organization to attend any SSP educational event (Annual Meeting, Seminars, Webinar, Focus Group, Regional Event)
- Discounted exhibit space at the SSP Annual Meeting.
- Two free registrations to any SSP Seminar, Focus Group, Regional Event, or Webinar.
- Subscription to SSP’s eNews Digest, RE:member for any employee of the organization whose email address is provided.
- A 20% discount on advertising in RE:member and the SSP website.
- Discounted job postings on the SSP Career Center.
Sustaining Level Members will also receive:
- One free weekly banner advertisement (annually) in RE:member.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PACKAGE
The Professional Development Package is ideal for publishers and libraries that are seeking additional professional development benefits.
Benefits at the Supporting Level include:
- Member News postings in RE:member weekly newsletter.
- Discounted rate for any representative of the organization to attend any SSP educational event (Annual Meeting, Seminars, Webinar, Focus Group, Regional Event)
- Two free registrations to any SSP Seminar, Focus Group or Regional Event.
- Two free registrations to any SSP Webinar.
- Subscription to SSP’s eNews Digest, RE:member for any employee of the organization whose email address is provided.
- Discounted job postings on the SSP Career Center.
Sustaining Level Members will also receive:
- Two additional free registrations to any SSP Seminar, Focus Group or Regional Event for a total of four.
- Two additional free registrations to any SSP Webinar for a total of four.
All organizational members will be acknowledged on the SSP website and in the Annual Meeting program, and employees of these organizations will receive badge ribbons at the meeting signifying their organizations’ support of the SSP mission and programs.
