Description

SSP West Virtual Event: Halloween Themed

Thursday, October 29, 2026
3:00 – 4:30 pm PT

What to Expect

Introduce yourself, share a spooky industry story, and share your ideas for future meetups!

This is our first meeting of the Western U.S. Regional Group, which we are lovingly dubbing “SSP West.” For the inaugural meeting, we want to get to know you, understand what you would like to get out of a regional group, and find out where everyone is located for optional in-person gatherings. It’s also Spooky Season, so bring a spooky industry (or personal) story to share! Let’s have some laughs and meet new people!

Costumes are encouraged! (Co-chairs will be in costume!)

Cost

Free

Location

Online (Zoom)

Registration

Please RSVP so we have a general idea of who is going to attend. You don’t need to attend for the whole 90 minutes, please feel free to drop in at a time that works for you.

Seminars

Seminars give scholarly publishing professionals a focused opportunity to convene and discuss the latest trends and challenges facing our industry. SSP holds its hybrid New Directions Seminar each fall, offering an intimate setting for in-person attendees while providing access to those who can’t attend in person.

Trainings

Trainings provide practical information on key topics in scholarly publishing for early- to mid-career staff. Annual trainings include the Journals Academy and Leadership Academy.

Webinars

Webinars deliver highly informative, thought-provoking presentations designed to challenge and stimulate discussion, including the opportunity to hear from The Scholarly Kitchen’s insightful Chefs as they examine current trends and emerging publishing challenges. Webinars can be purchased as a package or individually; register for more and save!

Regional Meetups

Regional Meetups offer networking opportunities and topical discussions with scholarly publishing colleagues in your local region, ideal for early-career professionals as well as those looking to expand their network.
