Concurrent 6B: Riding the Technology Wave…
Does your organization believe in silver bullets? Do you? With technology choices abounding and user expectations skyrocketing, it’s easy to get into the trap of implementing technology and expecting it to solve everything and delight users. Although technology can help solve issues and take advantage of opportunities, in reality, strategy and direction come first and technology exists in their service. In this session, we will explore how to determine if a tool or technology is right for your customers, organization or publications, and when is the right time to act. We’ll start by presenting ideas for creating a strategic technology plan that will work with your goals. Then we’ll hear from several organizations about their experiences evaluating technology options and the methods used to isolate technologies that will be most impactful for their customers and organizations. Finally, we’ll open up the discussion for a lively Q&A about technology choices and how to avoid making them war stories!
