2015 SSP Librarian Focus Group – Washington, DC

11th Annual Librarian Focus Group: A Forum for Publishers and Librarians

February 3, 2015
National Academy of Sciences
2101 Constitution Ave. NW
Washington, DC

Twitter Hashtag: #SSPLFG15

The 2015 Librarian Focus Group featured panelists are reshaping what it means to be a library. No longer just “a place where books, magazines, and other materials, are available for people to use or borrow,” today’s leading information professionals are transforming libraries into content providers, metrics and assessment bodies, research departments, and technology inventors. Whether it’s libraries who are now publishing new content or consortia who are rethinking how users access content, thought leaders are reinventing what libraries do, who their core customers are, and how information providers work with them.

Join five thought leaders active in this process of reinvention for a day of open discussion around:

The library as publisher featuring:
Sarah Lippincott, Program Manager, Library Publishing Coalition

The library as assessor featuring:
Dr. Andrew White, Associate CIO for Health Sciences, Senior Director for Research Computing, Stony Brook University
Dr. Kristi Holmes, Director Galter Health Sciences Library, Northwestern University

The library as researcher featuring:
James King, Chief, Information Resources and Services Branch, National Institutes of Health

The library as collective bargainer featuring:
Dr. Jason Price, Director of Licensing Operations, SCELC Library Consortium

The panel is moderated by Sara Rouhi, Product Sales Manager, Altmetric LLP and member of the SSP Education Committee.
