Join the Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP) and The Scholarly Kitchen (TSK) “Chefs” for a complimentary breakfast with a side of what’s trending in scholarly and academic publishing. In collaboration with Frankfurter Buchmesse, SSP and TSK will deliver two insightful sessions exploring the latest industry developments as well as a look at the current state of OA monograph publishing.
Please note: The Fair opens at 8:45 and it takes about 10 minutes to get to Hall 4.2; to enter early from 8:30 a.m., simply inform the staff at the entry point that you want to attend the SSP conference in Hall 4.2. Seating is limited; arrive early to secure a seat.

10:00 am – 11:00 am Challenges and Opportunities in OA Monographs
No longer in their infancy, OA monographs may be a permanent feature on the scholarly publishing landscape, but they differ from (and in some respects, lag behind) their journal counterparts in significant ways. This session features a panel presentation on issues and trends in OA monographs, including a university press’s efforts to balance commercial concerns with the mission of the press, the role of eBook aggregators in OA monograph publishing and promotion, and recommendations for best practices surrounding metadata and usage tracking. This timely presentation of success stories, lessons learned, and recommendations will explore a path forward to a sustainable future for OA monographs.
