The Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP) will present its second webinar of the year, Workflow is the New Content: Expanding the Scope of Interaction between Publishers and Researchers, on Tuesday, April 12, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM EDT. This webinar will explore changing workflows in how publishers and researchers interact before, during, and after the publishing process. In the pre-digital era, interaction between researchers and publishers mostly was limited to the time between submission of a manuscript and the time the paper was published, excluding perhaps learned societies that have always maintained relationships with researchers. In the digital era, the scope of interaction extended downstream to post-publication in ways such as usage statistics, metrics, and data sharing.
Now, new technologies are enabling publishers to move upstream and begin interacting with researchers before a manuscript is ever submitted in ways that make it easier for authors to write and publish their research. This expanded scope of interaction between publishers and researchers has the potential to strengthen relationships between the two parties.
The webinar will be moderated by Mary Anne Baynes, Chief Marketing Officer for Overleaf, an award-winning academic authorship tool that allows seamless collaboration and effortless manuscript submission, all underpinned by cloud-technology.
