Brill Renews Transformative Agreement with Jisc in the UK

Brill is delighted to announce that it has renewed its Transformative Agreement with Jisc in the UK for 2023-2024. Brill is one of the leading academic publishers in the Humanities, Social Sciences and Biology, with a broad Open Access portfolio consisting of more than 1,100 books and several thousand journal articles.

The agreement with Jisc is a two-year agreement covering 2023-2024, and is open to all eligible UK university libraries and academic-related Jisc affiliate members, as well as Scottish Higher Education Digital Library consortium members.

Academics at participating institutions benefit from reading access to the full Brill journal collection of more than 300 journals, as well as unlimited Open Access publishing of research articles, review articles and conference papers in all Brill journals, including Gold Open Access titles.

“Working with publishers such as Brill gives our members access to research from across the world in various important fields, and we are delighted to continue working with them. Transitional agreements like this also help to accelerate Open Access publishing through the immediate sharing of research held in these publications,” said Anna Vernon – Head of Research Licensing at Jisc.

“As one of the earliest adopters of Transformative Agreements, UK institutions continue to pave the way for Open Access,” comments Jasmin Lange, Brill’s Chief Publishing Officer. “At Brill, the agreement with Jisc led to a vast increase in Open Access publishing, increased author satisfaction and frictionless compliance with funder policies. This agreement is another step in our commitment to accelerate Open Access at scale for the Social Sciences.”
