Call for Proposals is Open for our 46th Annual Meeting!

We are thrilled to announce our 46th Annual Meeting, “Inflection Point: Setting the Course for the Future of Scholarly Communication,” May 29 – 31, 2024, in Boston, Massachusetts. Proposal submissions for Educational Sessions, Industry Breakouts, Posters, and 5-minute Industry Previews are now open!

The huge growth in proposals and publications, a greater focus on researchers as both author and reader, evolving open access publishing models, and the urgent need for equity and inclusion are disrupting traditional publishing infrastructure and processes. In addition, the explosive capabilities of artificial intelligence will likely disrupt every facet of scholarly communication but represent both opportunities and threats. We are at an inflection point—our decisions will determine both the value we deliver as an industry as well as the values we reflect as a community.

We invite academics, funders, librarians, publishers, service providers, technologists, researchers, and all those with a communal interest and stake in disseminating scholarly information to submit proposals covering diverse scholarly publishing topics, from STEM to the humanities and beyond. Join us for an in-person learning and networking event with a virtual option for remote attendance.

Programming themes include artificial intelligence, globalization, publishing impact, open scholarship, and publishing models. Not seeing your topic listed? Don’t despair! We’re open to your ideas too, including diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility, business models, career advice, change management, editorial and production issues, librarian-focused sessions, networking, sales and marketing, professional development, society publishers, sustainability, university presses, and more.

We are proud to use Ex Ordo for proposal submissions, and thank them for their continued support and sponsorship of SSP’s submission system!

Four submission options are available – Educational Sessions, Industry Breakouts, Posters, and 5-minute Industry Previews. Learn more on our Submissions Guidelines page. Submission deadlines are as follows:

  • Educational Sessions –  November 14, 2023
  • Industry Breakout Session – January 5, 2024
  • Educational Posters – February 16, 2024
  • 5-minute Industry Previews – February 16, 2024

We extend our appreciation to the Annual Meeting Program Committee Co-Chairs, Tim Lloyd, Erin Foley, and Jessie Slater, for their hard work!

Industry partners are invited to put your organization on display at the SSP Annual Meeting by contacting partnerships@sspnet.org. This dynamic event will provide exhibitors and sponsors with opportunities to present sessions, network with attendees, build brand awareness, and more!
