EMS Press Announces 7 New Titles to Join Subscribe To Open Program for 2022

July 28, 2021 – Berlin, DE – EMS Press, the publishing house of the European Mathematical Society, has today announced that 7 new titles will be joining its Subscribe To Open (S2O) program for 2022, bringing the total number of journals published under S2O to 17. The new additions include journals from the national societies such as the Portuguese Mathematical Society, Swiss Mathematical Society and the Royal Spanish Mathematical Society, and the Institut Henri Poincaré in France.

Speaking on this announcement, Managing Director André Gaul said “The rapid expansion of the S2O program is a testament to the success of the model in 2021. This is underpinned by the support of our subscribers and their understanding that continued subscriptions are the best way to ensure fair and sustainable open access publishing in the field of Mathematics. We are pleased that the community has embraced this model, and sees the value in distributing costs across many reader organizations rather than focusing them on a small number of authors via APCs.”

The growth of the S2O program means that if subscriber support for the model continues to thrive and grow, 19 of the Press’s 25 titles have the potential to become open access in some capacity in 2022. A full list of titles currently available as open access can be viewed on the journals page, while its S2O program for 2022 can be viewed on the S2O page. EMS Press has a number of packages and multi-year subscription offers available, enabling libraries to commit to long-term, cost-efficient support for open access.
