Researcher.Life Partners with Scholarly Intelligence to Make Information on Publication Turnaround Time Accessible to Researchers

Researcher.Life, an integrated ecosystem of tools and services that streamline a researcher’s journey, announces a first-of-its-kind collaboration with Scholarly Intelligence, a platform which supports various stakeholders in the scholarly communications space. This alliance between Researcher.Life, a brand under Cactus Communications (CACTUS), and Scholarly Intelligence aims to address a prevalent challenge in academia – the lack of transparency in publication timelines. Together, they aspire to empower researchers on the journal selection journey by providing valuable insights into the publication speed of top journals.

While factors like journal reputation and readership are crucial when assessing journals, publication speed is an equally important metric. However, information on this aspect has been vague, leading to uncertainty among researchers regarding publication timelines. Through this collaboration, Researcher.Life’s Journal Finder will be the only platform to feature the ‘Time to Publish’ metric for nearly 8,000 research journals. Based on submission-to-publication data from 2022, this metric offers insights into median publication time for journals. While researchers gain valuable information to help them make more informed submission decisions, publishers will also benefit from increased transparency on publication speed priorities.

Commenting on the partnership, Siddharth Varshney, Head of Researcher.Life at Cactus Communications stated, “We are excited about our partnership with Scholarly Intelligence as it makes Researcher.Life’s Journal Finder the only platform to feature the ‘Time to Publish’ metric. This partnership aims to address the lack of information transparency about journal publication speeds. Collectively, our goal is to empower researchers with information about publication speed, enabling them to make well-informed decisions about choosing the most appropriate journal. We believe this partnership will greatly benefit the research community and contribute to a more efficient publishing process.”

Christos Petrou, Chief Analyst at Scholarly Intelligence remarked, “When choosing where to submit their papers, researchers prioritize a journal’s reputation, its citability and ranking, and its readership. Speed comes next. There are countless indicators related to citability that researchers can consider, but there is scarcity of information about speed. I have long wanted to address this lack of informational transparency and help researchers make better-informed decisions about where to submit their papers. The partnership with Researcher.Life will allow researchers to access speed data for nearly 8,000 journals. This is about helping researchers make balanced decisions and choose journals that are neither faster nor slower than they feel comfortable with.”

This partnership marks a significant step towards empowering researchers to make informed decisions about journal selection, streamlining their publication process, and enhancing their scholarly impact.
