SSP’s Scholarly Kitchen Launches Podcast Series

May 15, 2013Like the Scholarly Kitchen? You’re sure to like its new podcast series, debuting today, thanks to the efforts of Podcast Chef Stewart Wills and SK Master Chef Kent Anderson.

The podcasts menu will feature interviews with authors of recent Kitchen posts, as well as original interviews with people and panels discussing various projects, issues, and trends in the scientific and scholarly publishing fields.

The inaugural item on the menu features an interview with Chef Ann Michael, president of DeltaThink, on the topic of “What Customers Want.” Listen now on  iTunes.

“The Scholarly Kitchen continues to grow, and we’re excited to launch our podcast,” said Master Chef Anderson. “We’re an all-volunteer crew, so we’re very fortunate to have someone with strengths in audio production and presentation aboard in Stewart Wills, who volunteered to take this on.”

Chef Anderson continued to say that because of the success of the Kitchen and the rich content it provides, a podcast was a natural fit.  His goal is to add a new podcast every other week during the first few months. When the appetite for the audience grows, more frequently published podcasts will follow.

Podcast Chef Wills is equally excited about the launch. Having worked in the Web and new media with Science and the American Association for the Advancement of Science, he had opportunities to witness the effectiveness of using podcasts to provide information for organizations in a new way.

“Podcasts provide a forum for the kind of provocative ideas that are the stock in trade of The Scholarly Kitchen, and as a vehicle for featuring new voices,” he said. “It is great to have the opportunity to build a new way for users to engage with the superb content and discussion that makes The Kitchen such a tremendous resource for the community.”

SSP encourages everyone to subscribe to the podcast so as to receive the most current menu item.
