2018 SSP Webinar Preview: Sharing Policies: IRs, Authors’ Manuscripts vs. PrePrint vs. Version of Record

February 6, 2018 Wheatridge, CO – The Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP) kicks off its 2018 webinar series with an in-depth look at the confusion surrounding current sharing policies and the challenges facing authors, libraries, and publishers alike. “Sharing Policies: IRs, Author’s Manuscript vs. PrePrint vs. Version of Record,” 11 a.m. to noon, February 13. The webinar will clarify current policies and encourage dialogue about how the scholarly publishing community can work together to address these ambiguities.

Registration for the event is still open with a discount available for SSP members.

Jason Pointe, publishing director, IARS, will moderate the discussion about establishing a standard vocabulary for talking about versions, clarifying where versions can be posted and when, and ensuring that publishers understand what an IR is and how it fits into sharing practices.

Speakers will include:

Whitebloom manages ScholarlyCommons, the University of Pennsylvania’s institutional repository, and contributes to the broader efforts of the University’s Digital Scholarship group. He previously worked at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University as a project coordinator. Whitebloom holds an MLIS from the Simmons College School of Library and Information Science and a BA in History and Italian from Vassar College.
  • Andrew Wible, Senior Manager, Rights and Partnerships, Wolters Kluwer

He is responsible for overseeing the permissions, licensing, and translation teams for the entire Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins and Medknow medical, nursing and allied health journal and book publishing programs. Wible is a member of the STM Copyright and Legal Affairs Committee and the AAP Copyright Committee.

This webinar is intended for a broad audience of scholarly communications professionals, and should be of interest to researchers, librarians, publishers and authors.
