Laura Helmuth is the Editor in Chief of Scientific American. She serves on the boards of High Country News, Spectrum, and SciLine, and she is a member of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine’s Standing Committee on Advancing Science Communication. Joseph Williams is an Associate Professor of Counselor Education at the University of Virginia. His primary research line focuses on resilience-based interventions and policies that offset the detrimental effect of racism and poverty on the development of K-12 students.

Journals Quickstarter Training A complete overview of the academic journals ecosystem, composed of several “modules” touching on all major facets of journals publishing—financial skills and business models; marketing, editorial and production; data and decision making; and the tools and technology of journals publishing —each led by experts in their respective fields.

Charleston Hub Trendspotting Initiative This pre-meeting seminar presents various “provocations” or “what if” scenarios and explores different futures thinking approaches to considering the implications, potential effects on the industry, and reactions to respond to or resist such trends. Join us for robust discussion as we continue shaping and deepening our understandings.

NEW! Community Groups
We are offering a new opportunity for networking this year through . When you register, you may opt into a community group for the duration of the SSP Annual Meeting, composed of up to six people, and including a mix of veteran and first-time SSP Annual Meeting attendees. The group will serve as a participant’s touchstone throughout the conference with informal meetings to check in and discuss trending topics, share experiences, ask questions, or act as a sounding board.

The Annual Meeting begins at 10:30 am ET on Monday, May 24 and includes all education, networking and industry breakout sessions and events through Thursday.

In addition to the selected pre-meeting training sessions, this pass also includes access to the Marketplace Gallery, all Industry Breakout sessions and the Awards Presentation the following week.

Discounted registration rates are available for librarians, students, retired professionals, funders, researchers, low/middle income country residents, and groups.
