Starting in 2018, the Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP) will offer a new benefits package option for Organizational Members. Members will now have the option to choose the benefits package that most closely aligns to their needs. Organizational Members at both the Supporting and Sustaining membership levels can select the Professional Development Package or the Promotional Package when they renew their membership or join SSP.
Upon analyzing our membership, we realized that nearly half of our organizational members are publishers or libraries that are not focused on promoting their organizations, products, or services at SSP events or within our communication channels. The Membership Committee conducted a series of interviews with organizational members to better understand which benefits were providing value and how we could better align the benefits of membership to the specific goals of our member organizations.
Benefits at the Supporting Level
Sustaining Level Members
Organizational memberships will continue to be offered at two levels. The Supporting Level includes up to 5 individual memberships to SSP for representatives of the organization (with the option to add additional memberships for $100 each) while the Sustaining Level includes up to 20 individual memberships. These named representatives receive all rights and privileges of full membership, which includes full voting privileges, all e-newsletters and notices, the right to hold office and serve on committees, participation in member-only programs, online access to Learned Publishing, inclusion in the online member directory, and inclusion in online services directory. Registration discounts will continue to extend to any member of the organization and all employees of the organization can be subscribed to RE:member, SSP’s weekly eNews digest which includes industry news, SSP news, member news and information about upcoming events. Organizational members will continue to be acknowledged on the SSP website and in the Annual Meeting program, and employees of these organizations will receive badge ribbons at the meeting signifying their organizations’ support of the SSP mission and programs. Current organizational members will be asked to select which package they prefer during the renewal process at the end of the year and new benefits will be available January 1, 2018. Dues for 2018 will be posted by October 8, 2017. Visit the SSP Join/Renew page for updates. For more information about these new benefits packages, please contact Jan Kalne at info@sspnet.org. |
