Celebrating the Dedicated Volunteers That Drive SSP – THANK YOU!

Our volunteers offer new ideas and fresh perspectives, challenge the status quo, question assumptions, and propose creative solutions to problems.

April 21 through 27 is National Volunteer Week, an annual celebration that expresses our heartfelt appreciation for everything you do. Your unique skills and insights as subject matter experts enrich our association and drive innovative solutions. Our volunteers offer new ideas and fresh perspectives, challenge the status quo, question assumptions, and propose creative solutions to problems. Their dedication and passion are vital to the mission and vision of SSP and the broader scholarly publishing community.

Our volunteers are part of a community of over 250 members who support the advancement of scholarly communications and publishing by serving on committees and task forces, on our Board of Directors, writing for SSP’s blog, The Scholarly Kitchen, acting as mentors in our Fellowship and Mentorship programs, and furthering our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility commitments.

Volunteering comes with challenges, but we hope your engagement is meaningful and rewarding. Thanks to you, SSP is proud to host many projects and resources developed and led by our enthusiastic volunteers, including the Annual Meeting program, many of our events and training sessions, the Professional Skills Map, the growing Communities of Interest Networks, the Early Career Development podcast, the Early Career Chew newsletter, and many others. In addition, our volunteers create regional opportunities for networking, collaboration, and professional development that help local colleagues stay engaged and motivated.

Your work may often go unseen, but it is fundamental to our success. We appreciate your commitment to being an integral part of our community. We’d love to hear why you give back to the scholarly publishing community. Tag us on LinkedIn, Twitter, Bluesky, or Facebook, or send us a note!

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
