Marketing & Communications Committee

The Marketing Committee coordinates and conducts marketing outreach for SSP activities, including the Annual Meeting and educational seminars. Members prepare copy and work with designers on advertisements, brochures, flyers, listserv announcements, e-mail announcements, etc.

Roster Info

A full roster has 30 volunteers. | Current Roster

We would love to welcome 5-10 new members this year. Our working groups include Events & Webinars, Content & Social Media, Website, RE:Member Newsletter, and Committee Liaisons.

Tasks & Projects

  • Provide marketing support for other committee activities where needed (Generations Fund, Early Career PodCast, membership outreach, testimonials, data & analytics, annual meeting, interviews & live streams/video)
  • SSP website accessibility review and remediation, usability testing, and UX improvements
  • Ongoing communications and content marketing (RE:Member Newsletter, social graphics, webinar previews, news pieces, TSK Ask the Community posts)

Expectations

You don’t need to be a marketing professional with experience in promotional copywriting, graphic design, or web analytics; just be interested in communicating scholarly publishing resources and initiatives. Volunteers would be expected to contribute in various ways, including by being a liaison to another committee, participating in a working group (analytics, content marketing, events), or through things like periodic event or webinar previews and recaps, writing promos for SSP member services and campaigns, helping create social media graphics in Canva, contributing industry headlines for the newsletter, or helping refine the usability of SSP’s websites.
