Tasks & Projects

  • The SSP Journals Academy is the premier annual scholarly publishing event for early- to mid-career professionals interested in a workshop-like overview of all facets of the publishing landscape for scholarly journals. The 2024 SSP Journals Academy developed by the SSP Training Committee will be held on November 19, December 3, and December 10.
  • SSP Training Sessions are periodic, 2-—to 3-hour training-style sessions on specific key topics of interest to early—to mid-career professionals in scholarly publishing. The SSP Training Committee plans to hold “Introduction to Copyright” and “Use Cases for Artificial Intelligence in Scholarly Publishing” in 2024.

Expectations

As a member of one of SSP’s newest committees, you’ll have a real hands-on opportunity to use your creativity to help shape the direction of this important training content. Select members may serve as “shepherds” for specific programming as part of the overall committee activities.

Benefits of contributing to these projects

  • Developing organizational and content development skills
  • Learning along the way while organizing!
  • Excellent networking and learning opportunities – learn as you build!

SSP core values are embedded in the content developed by the Training Committee: providing educational and interactivity opportunities for the community, providing inclusive content and speaking opportunities, staying on the cutting edge of the evolving environment of scholarly communications, and providing a forum for interaction with others with integrity.
